Gamaliel Gray appeared to be the target of a gunman before 16-year-old Davanique Gray was killed in her home while charging her phone, police said.
Gray, 31, was wanted for the murder of the country’s second murder victim, but instead hid out at the home of his girlfriend in Nassau Village where Davanique lived but was killed on Saturday around noon, Commissioner of Police Clayton Fernander asserted in a press conference on Tuesday afternoon.
Police sought him for allegedly killing Gerard Coakley of South Beach on Datura Avenue. A gunman reportedly chased him inside the home 48 hours into the new year and shot him multiple times.

Police sought Gray for the killing and said they gave chase but he evaded their capture, sheltering at the house in Nassau Village.
Authorities deduced that in retaliation, the gunman knew he was there, shot at the house but wound up killing the teen at RM Bailey High School.
Gray has since turned himself into the police with an attorney.
It is unknown what charges will be brought against the mother accused of “harboring” Gray.
