In a tragic development linked to the high-profile $1.5 million bank security car heist last November, Oral Roberts, 34, was fatally shot in the Fox Hill park area, marking the third death associated with the case.
Details from the police were sparse following the incident. The victim’s body remained publicly visible on the street for an extended period.
Before police arrived on the scene, family members wailed and hugged Roberts as blood oozed from his head wound.
The victim’s mother Mizpah Roberts, revealed that her son was under electronic surveillance with an ankle bracelet and had been interrogated by the police just a week prior as part of the ongoing investigation into Chief Superintendent Michael Johnson of the Central Investigations Department, who is currently on leave amid inquiries into leaked voice notes suggesting corrupt dealings with a lawyer and two deceased suspects of the robbery–Michael Fox Jr and Dino Smith.

While Fox and Smith were never formally charged, Roberts and his associate, Akeil Holmes, faced charges for over $1 million in theft from the armored vehicle at an airport.
According to Ms. Roberts, her son had briefly left to purchase a sandwich and returned home when he was shot. She also alleged that the officers who had questioned him cautioned him against stopping for any police vehicles and expressed her belief that the police were responsible for her son’s death, a claim she made fearlessly despite her son’s expressed concerns for his safety.
His death and his mother’s allegations now add fuel to the widespread allegations of police corruption.
