In what initially seemed like a simple open and close murder case, police are still hunting the person responsible for killing the aviation worker Geovani Rolle who was shot and killed in the early morning hours of Father’s Day after arriving at work. His family is now offering $25,000 to help solve the murder case.

At face value and based on public discourse, 38-year-old Rolle was involved in a relationship with a woman who was the wife of the suspect but believed to be separated from him. Rolle was killed near his place of employment, Jet Nassau, around 6 am, where he worked as a ramp manager. Police said a gunman pulled up in a white vehicle, shot a barrage of bullets and killed the father of two.

Authorities confirmed the suspect, who remained unnamed, was arrested in the Domestic Terminal of the Lynden Pindling Airport hours later, and images of his arrest circulated on social media.

Family and friends of Geovani are now offering a reward of  $25,000 for information that leads to the arrest, charge, and/or conviction of the person or persons responsible for killing Rolle, according to The Nassau Guardian.

This indicates that the suspect is no longer in police custody and police may not have enough evidence to charge him with the crime.

Police have not yet spoken on the matter since the reward was offered.

Shortly after the murder though, an investigator in the case said they had not yet concluded that it was a result of a conflict between lovers, as suggested. “There are some things that we are not certain of. Based on the information that has been presented, we don’t want to make a judgment call that it’s domestic. That’s a possibility. I don’t want to say it isn’t. But I can’t say it’s factual at this time.”

Garnique Johnson, a cousin of the victim said in a social media post when the incident occurred, that he (Rolle) lived long enough to tell them who shot him, which she believed assisted in the quick arrest of the suspect. This could not be confirmed.

With no one in police custody, Rolle’s family and friends are now asking anyone with information to call 242-828-1020 or email justiceforgeorolle@gmail.com.

“That village wants to do its part to help in the fight for justice for him,” the family said in a statement. “Any information, however insignificant it may seem, could help to solve this case.”

It remains to be seen whether or not the matter will become a cold case.
