A man was tragically killed in Miami, Florida on Sunday in a hit-and-run crash which has left loved ones grieving the ambition and selflessness he often displayed.
On Monday evening, family and friends gathered near the spot where Jeff Jean was killed, to remember the young father who became known for the loyalty he showed in his friendships.
“Jeff had your back,” his friend said. He was different. Someone you can call on.”
His cousin, still in disbelief, took to social media to pay tribute to him.
“Never in a million years, I thought I’d have to write ‘Rest in peace’…It’s hard to stop crying but I can’t stop. It’s emotions running through my body [as] it has never before.”
Another wrote, “You came from so far. You show everyone to never give up [and] chase your dreams.”
What is known
Jean, identified by family and friends, was killed around 2:15 in the early morning on Pembroke Road when he attempted to cross the street. A vehicle, traveling east, struck the young man and continued driving.
Miramar Fire and Rescue responded and found Jean’s body with his shoes strewn a few feet from his body.
A $5000 reward is offered for the suspect inJean’s death.
What is unknown
- Police do not know the make and model of the vehicle that struck Jean.
- Authorities still do not know the person who is responsible for hitting Jean. Neither did they reveal his age.
