All coronavirus cases are related to the first case

The Bahamas has four confirmed cases of covid19 to date.

The new case was recently added after three persons remain in health facilities for treatment.

The Ministry of Health recently announced in a press statement that this latest case is connected to the initial case.

Last week, health officials revealed that a 61 year old woman was confirmed to be the first case of the virus for the Bahamas. It was revealed that the woman did not have a travel history but presented with fever and a cough.

Officials said at the time that they were conducting contact tracing to determine the source of the virus and determine if others may be infected.

On Wednesday in the House of Assembly, Prime Minister Hubert Minnis announced that three persons were discovered with the virus after health officials discovered that family members of the first case had recently travelled to affected regions of Canada, Trinidad and Dubai.

Dr. Minnis said 30 members of the woman’s family were being quarantined and monitored.

As of today, seven persons remain in quarantine facilities.

Officials are advising the public to follow the necessary health protocols of washing hands with soap and water, avoid touching the face and practice social distancing of 3 to 6 feet to help eliminate the spread of the virus.
