Two ambulances will remain in New Providence and one will be sent to Grand Bahama
The Public Hospitals Authority (PHA) says it is continuing to build its fleet of emergency vehicles after the passage of Hurricane Dorian last year.
The devastating storm significantly impacted the National Emergency Medical Services (NEMS) ambulance fleet destroying ambulances serving Abaco, Grand Bahama and New Providence.
NEMS Director Dr. Alvery Hanna said in the aftermath of Dorian in September last year, the Authority assigned donated ambulances from its fleet in New Providence to service Abaco and Grand Bahama.
She said, “Two of the ambulances will remain in New Providence and one will be deployed to Grand Bahama.”
The emergency vehicles were manufactured by Wheeled Coach, Rev Ambulance Group, in Orlando Florida and are valued at approximately one hundred and fifty thousand dollars each ($150,000).
The 2021 Ford E-350 Cutaway T3 Citimedic Plus is a state-of-the-art type III emergency vehicle that is five to eight inches narrower than the average type III model. Its rugged design offers all popular features including inside/outside access to Advanced Life Support (ALS) equipment and a spacious cab with more room for EMS crews than comparable chassis.
