The grieving mother of the 17-year-old killed in a motorcycle accident more than two weeks ago, says she’s unable to afford his burial as she tries to come to terms with his tragic and sudden death.

Precious Sweeting says the insurance is not enough to cover her son’s burial.

Brieon Sweeting was hit by a man believed to be a judge driving a black Ford Explorer on September 8 around 7 pm. According to police, the black Ford Explorer was traveling north on West Bay Street near Coral Drive, when the man indicated that he was about to make a left turn into the western seaview parking lot.

As he attempted to turn, the man felt the impact and saw the motorcycle driven by Brieon, crashed into a gate on the western side of the street, police said.

Brieon succumbed on the scene.

“I’m looking for information in reference to who knock[ed] down my son, because not only am I struggling emotionally with the death of my son but I’m also struggling financially because insurance did not take care of everything that needs to be taken care of,” Sweeting said in a social media post.

Brieon, described as a joyful teen, traveled from Andros to Nassau to undertake a swimming test as he sought employment on a cay, however, he was informed that he was too young for the post.

His father Kevin Louissaint spoke to The Nassau Guardian recently, reiterating his fears of Brieon riding a motorcycle.

“I wasn’t down with that,” he said. “I always told him to stay off those bikes. I’m not a motorcycle rider, so I didn’t want him to be one.”

Sweeting said she does not know who was involved in the accident and had sought answers to his death but to no avail.

“Nobody answered me. This is absolute bs. They knock[ed] my son down and left him in the road like he was some dog,” she lamented.

Sweeting has scheduled his funeral for October 5 and is hoping for further financial support.

“Someone needs to pay for his funeral…and I need answers now.”
