Unable to afford a burial, this mother’s grief is compounded with not knowing who killed her son in a motorcycle accident

The grieving mother of the 17-year-old killed in a motorcycle accident more than two weeks ago, says she’s unable to afford his burial as she tries to come to terms with his tragic and sudden death.

Precious Sweeting says the insurance is not enough to cover her son’s burial.

Brieon Sweeting was hit by a man believed to be a judge driving a black Ford Explorer on September 8 around 7 pm. According to police, the black Ford Explorer was traveling north on West Bay Street near Coral Drive, when the man indicated that he was about to make a left turn into the western seaview parking lot.

As he attempted to turn, the man felt the impact and saw the motorcycle driven by Brieon, crashed into a gate on the western side of the street, police said.

Brieon succumbed on the scene.

“I’m looking for information in reference to who knock[ed] down my son, because not only am I struggling emotionally with the death of my son but I’m also struggling financially because insurance did not take care of everything that needs to be taken care of,” Sweeting said in a social media post.

Brieon, described as a joyful teen, traveled from Andros to Nassau to undertake a swimming test as he sought employment on a cay, however, he was informed that he was too young for the post.

His father Kevin Louissaint spoke to The Nassau Guardian recently, reiterating his fears of Brieon riding a motorcycle.

“I wasn’t down with that,” he said. “I always told him to stay off those bikes. I’m not a motorcycle rider, so I didn’t want him to be one.”

Sweeting said she does not know who was involved in the accident and had sought answers to his death but to no avail.

“Nobody answered me. This is absolute bs. They knock[ed] my son down and left him in the road like he was some dog,” she lamented.

Sweeting has scheduled his funeral for October 5 and is hoping for further financial support.

“Someone needs to pay for his funeral…and I need answers now.”

‘This feels so unreal’: Friends and sister mourn the couple killed in the motorcycle crash

Nearly three days after a couple was killed in a motorcycle crash, friends and family are still in shock and are grieving their loss.

The woman, identified as 37-year-old Rhashan ‘Pinky’ Rolle, one of three passengers on the motorcycle, was fondly remembered.

“You were such a beautiful soul,” Vernon Woodside mourned.

One social media user added, “I will miss you.”

“This feels so unreal,” Tanya Knowles lamented in disbelief.

Rolle’s boyfriend, Deandre Woodside, 27, was also killed in front of Calvary Deliverance Church, East Street South when his black motorcycle hit a vehicle that was overtaking a car on the other side of the street during the early morning hours on Monday.

“This is a lot for me to process right now because it’s still fresh,” Woodside’s sister Latonya Marshall grieved.

She recalled first hearing the news of his death. “I was hurt [and] shocked. I literally couldn’t breathe.”

“I still don’t believe it.”

Woodside loved riding motorbikes and was described as carefree and cheerful.

He had just taken on a painting job, earning $100 per week.

“He was just trying to turn his life around.

“I always used to tell him how proud I am of him,” Marshall reminisced.

The third passenger on the bike and the driver of the vehicle remain in serious condition in the hospital.
