Facebook, Whatsapp and Instagram have all stopped working after a major global outage.
The three apps are all owned by Facebook, the single giant corporation, and stopped working at around noon.
It is not known what caused the outage as users worldwide appear impacted by the outage.
Why it matters
The outage will have a vast impact since these are three of the world’s biggest app for messaging.
The outage can lead to people’s lack of trust in Facebook and the increased usage of other messaging competitors like Twitter.
Has this happened before?
The three apps all went down in 2019 for 24 hours due to “a server configuration change.”
In 2008, Facebook was knocked out by a bug and that outage lasted for one day.
What they said
All three platforms have since released statements confirming they are working to resolve the issues.
WhatsApp said, “We’re aware that some people are experiencing issues with WhatsApp at the moment. We’re working to get things back to normal and will send an update here as soon as possible.
“Thanks for your patience!”
Facebook added, “We’re aware that some people are having trouble accessing the Facebook app. We’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible, and we apologize for any inconvenience.”
Instagram said, “Instagram and friends are having a little bit of a hard time right now, and you may be having issues using them. Bear with us, we are on it.”
