Prime Minister Hubert Minister warns young people against hosting parties as the country prepares for Tropical Storm Isaias and battles the coronavirus pandemic.
Wrapping up his speech at the National Emergency Management Agency Press Conference on Thursday, Dr. Minnis pleaded with the nation’s youths to use the time to stay safe.
“I send a message out to the young people. I know that many of you are booking into the hotels during the hurricane. Use that time for security and safety. Please do not engage in hurricane or COVID party,” he said.
Dr. Minnis added that hosting such parties “can be devastating,” causing increases in the COVID-19 totals.
“We will see the after effects. If not in two weeks, possibly later.”
As of Thursday evening, 24 new cases were revealed with 20 cases in New Providence and 4 new cases in Grand Bahama.
This means that COVID-19 numbers have risen to 508 with 401 active cases, 91 recovered cases and 14 related deaths, with no details released on the three recent deaths.
