Four Additional Confirmed COVID-19 Cases and One Additional Death

A 51 year old woman in Grand Bahama is the latest COVID-19 death

The Ministry of Health confirms today that there are 4 additional confirmed cases of COVID-19.

One case has been admitted to Doctor’s Hospital West, 2 are in home isolation and one deceased.

Overall, the majority of COVID-19 patients are doing well and some are very ill.

This brings the total number of confirmed cases to 40. There have been 6 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Grand Bahama, 33 confirmed cases in New Providence and 1 confirmed case from the island of Bimini.

The newly confirmed cases are as follows:

  • Case #37 is a sixty (60) year old male resident of New Providence with no history of travel.

  • Case #38 is a thirty-eight (38) year old female resident of New Providence with no history of travel.

  • Case #39 is a forty-four (44) year old male of New Providence with no history of travel.

  • Case #40 is a fifty-one (51) year old female of Grand Bahama with no history of travel.

The Ministry of Health also confirms the death of Case #40, a 51 year old female of Grand Bahama who passed away 6th April, 2020.

Her laboratory results were confirmed today.

Investigations are being conducted into the details of this unfortunate death.

Health officials continue to follow the condition of the other current twenty-nine (29) COVID-19 positive cases. Investigations are ongoing.

Members of the public are once again reminded to follow the Emergency Powers (COVID-19) Order announced by Prime Minister Hubert Minnis to reduce the spread of the virus, including physical distancing.
