After The Bahamas International Pageants Organization terminated Miss Teen Universe Bahamas Cameronique Evans, her mother is speaking up on behalf of her daughter claiming Evans was left stranded in South Africa after she was sacked.

“I am very disheartened and distraught about the entire ordeal. What we thought would have been an exciting memorable experience for my daughter representing her country, has now turned into an absolute nightmare,” her mother said in a letter to the organization.

It is not clear the reason for Evan’s termination, but Tia Thompson, the franchise owner had vaguely said it was “regarding expectations, professionalism, and the importance of communication.”

“Despite several discussions and warnings, we have observed ongoing issues that violate the terms of our agreement. Specifically, your attendance at the Miss Teen Universe International pageant held in South Africa created an atmosphere that detracts from the integrity and unity of our organization.”

Evan’s mother claims her daughter was given the termination letter in front of other delegates from various countries while in Johannesburg. “The other delegates had to console and comfort my child from the humiliation.”

She then claimed her daughter was later found in the airport alone by the mother of another contestant from Trinidad and Tobago, who, along with the High Commissioner of London and the Minister of Foreign Affairs Fred Mitchell, assisted her in returning to the Bahamas.

“My heart was broken but thank God a stranger was present in that moment to rescue my child.”

The organization has not yet responded to the mother’s claims.
