Phillipa Carey was expecting a happy return to the house she once shared with her grandmother, but she was met with a surprise—the house was gutted and appeared vandalized.
“What we found was a big mess,” said Phillipa who wished to return with Ms Ingrid Carey on Friday.
Philippa in a social media post showed the house which has been the center of controversy in the family’s quarrel with Mrs Carey’s caretaker, Mervie Knowles.
Trashed piled the floor, cables were disconnected, cupboards hung from hinges, beds were missing and a hole stood in the window where an air condition once was.
“We literally have no more appliances left. We don’t have a stove, the refrigerator is gone, the cabinets up and down were broken off the hinges. Inside the kitchen, we have a hole in the roof. That was never there,” Phillipa said.
“Inside each of the bedrooms is bare. Nothing is there. Only the bed frame is there.”

Knowles was the last occupant of the house and was given one week to vacate after she took over Carey’s home and redirected her financial benefits without proper consent. When Phillipa broadcasted the situation, the community rallied in support, demanding justice.
Knowles then relinquished the house and handed it back to Phillipa, promising to remove her belongings within seven days.
Now Phillipa finding the house in disarray, is asking for the public’s assistance in cleaning the property and the donation of appliances as she prepares to move Ms Carey back into the home.
Last Thursday, Knowles was called in for questioning for allegations of fraud.
