No new cases were recorded on Sunday, the first time since the start of the pandemic in March.
The COVID-19 report produced by the Ministry of Health shows zero cases for Sunday, indicating that no cases were confirmed for any of the islands, including New Providence, Grand Bahama and Abaco, where most of the cases were concentrated.
In recent weeks, the reports have been showing single digits suggesting that the total number of cases in the country was decreasing tremendously.
The number of new cases dropped from nine to zero between Saturday and Sunday, the reports show. The report also shows that five cases recovered.
However, 24 deaths remain under investigation.
On Sunday, Prime Minister Hubert Minnis further relaxed COVID-19 restrictions, representing the sharp decline of cases in the Bahamas.
- Effective tomorrow, Monday December 7, gyms in New Providence and Abaco can resume operations in accordance with Ministry of Health approved guidelines.
- From December 24th-January 3rd, church and religious services may be held after 10 p.m. for midnight mass and watch-night services. This applies to New Providence, Abaco, Grand Bahama, Exuma and Eleuthera, as other islands do not currently have evening curfews.
- Social gatherings can take place with a maximum of 10 people for the period of 24th December to 3rd January, 2021.
- For Sunday, December 13th and Sunday, December 20th, retail operators will be able to provide services between the hours of 6 a.m. and 9 p.m.
- Effective tomorrow, Monday 7th, the quarantine presently in place for travelers leaving New Providence to go to the Family Islands will be lifted.
- Effective Monday 7th, Exuma and Eleuthera may resume in-person church services following the health guidelines of the Bahamas Christian Council and approved by the Ministry of Health.
